Athletic Wear Survey

The process of trying to create questions for my research topic was kind of challenging. Most of my questions were different from my other group members since our topic was so broad. My demographic questions did not really help me in understanding results since everyone is so close in age and the gender didn't really matter. A result from my survey was that people mostly care about comfort when they pick up clothes. I got 16 responses. A good project formatted similar to The Apprentice would be to design athletic wear and see who sells more. 

New Kind Of Kick Case Study

1. I chose to do the case study about the DC Shoe Company. The company started in 1994 in California. The company sold shoes and clothing for skateboarding. The company started to become very successful, their products expanded to snowboarding and bmx and surfing. DC started to involve musicians and artists by creating limited edition designs. Back in the time of this case study DC was making 100$ million annually.

2. Piracy- Unauthorized use of an owners or creators music, movies, or other copyrighted material.
    Revenue- Gross income
    Core product- Main product
    Ancillary product- Product related to or created from the core product
    Synergy- Combined action that occurs when products owned by one source promote the growth of      related products.

3. Another situation to maybe research could be the competitors in the athletic clothing/equipment business.  

Marketing Mix

I am creating a place called Swim. It is a big building with a big ten lane competition swimming pool, a big pool for free swim, a hot tub, and a pool for diving with 4 different height diving boards. My biggest competitor is the YMCA since it has two swimming pools. The pools at Swim are much cleaner and there are always instructors there to help you with your stroke. To become a member you have to pay 5$ a month, instead of the YMCA which you have to pay up to 50$ a month. There will be commercials on NESN and other sport networks so athletes will become aware of a great way to stay in shape. We will also have billboards and put up posters at swim meets.

Olympics

I wish that the olympics were going to be in Boston. But I guess that it is good that they’re not going to be. There is not too much space for all the stadiums. If the olympics were held in Boston there would have to be many new buildings constructed for the games. Also there would always be traffic due to all the people in this tiny city. Plus there would be nowhere for people to stay. Finally it would cost a ton of money to have the olympics here. I guess that is actually a good thing that the olympics will not be here.
